Despite the weather getting nicer, HBO Max is giving its subscribers a lot of reasons to stay indoors in May 2021 with the slate of new movies and TV shows coming to the streamer. Although May is traditionally the start of summer blockbuster season, the prolonged effects of the Covid-19 pandemic continue to convince viewers to choose streaming over movie theaters. Thankfully, the WarnerMedia service keeps providing a lot of streaming entertainment, and the month of May will be no different in this respect. In addition to new HBO Max Originals and a few movie debuts, HBO Max is set to welcome back a major DCEU installment – Wonder Woman 1984.

With the 2021 Mortal Kombat leaving the streamer on May 23, the classic version will be available to HBO Max subscribers from May 1. Those looking to watch the 1995 film that launched the live-action movie franchise will be happy to know that both titles will be available side by side throughout much of May. The first of May will also feature the debut of Christopher Nolan's Tenet, which is coming to HBO as a Saturday night premiere.

Greenland (May 8) and The Personal History Of David Copperfield (May 15) will make weekend premieres as well.

Between those dates, HBO Max will relaunch Wonder Woman 1984 (May 13) while also debuting the WB title, Those Who Wish Me Dead (May 14), starring Angelina Jolie.

As far as Max Originals are concerned, That Damn Michael Che, a sketch show from the SNL cast member, begins on May 6, while a new dark comedy called Hacks starts on May 13. A week later (May 20), Adventure Time: Distant Lands - Together Again hits the service.
